Understanding Tarantulas

Tarantulas are large, hairy spiders belonging to the family Theraphosidae. They live on nearly every continent except Antarctica and range from slow-moving ground dwellers to agile climbers.

Tarantulas are often grouped into New World and Old World species. These groups differ in behavior, defense, temperament, and physiology.
